Shimano R550 Composite SPD-SL Pedals

The Shimano R550 SPD-SL composite Road pedal is a lighter and sleeker version of Shimano’s entry level R540 road pedal. The R550 pedal works in the same way, and takes the same cleats, as the R540 but comes in 30grams lighter and has a lower profile look on the bike. If you are weight conscious, or looking to upgrade from the R540 then this is a good choice.

The R550 uses a large 3 bolt pattern cleat similar to the Look road pedals. The large cleat on the R550, and the wide pedal body, gives much more contact between your foot and the pedal than on a standard SPD for better power transfer and improved comfort on longer rides.
